Who We Are

OUR STORY

In 2013 we felt called to plant a church. After much discussion and prayer we laid a fleece before God. While driving with the family one day, God spoke through our son Josiah when he innocently asked “Where do they need to see God's power the most?” My wife, Stephanie, and I looked at each other knowing exactly where that need was.

I grew up in Follansbee and have seen this area fall to addiction and poverty through the years. My heart breaks for our community. We knew that planting a church here would not be easy, but we had to go where his light is dim knowing that if he was in it no devil could stand against us!

My wife and I, along with our two boys, packed up and moved to WV in 2013 to begin meeting with others who wanted to see a life-giving church in the Ohio Valley. With a remnant of people, we began to lay a foundation through outreaches and Bible studies, meeting in our living room for nearly a year. Then in 2014 we officially opened the doors to Impact Church on a beautiful Easter Sunday and have witnessed God add to the house through these past 6 years.

We have met in various places, from Follansbee Community House to a cold, dusty union hall to the Milsop in Weirton. God opened doors for us to settle at our Weirton  location in 2015 and in our Steubenville location in 2020. We are trusting God for where he will lead us next.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

CORE BELIEFS

God

We believe God has always been in existence. He created the universe. God is all-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present, and He is in control of everything.
We believe that God exists in three co-equal persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. This does not mean we believe in three different gods, but rather we believe that God is a tri-une being. This may be difficult for many of us to fully grasp, mostly because human begins can only exist in one person. However, this is just on way that God is far great that we are. We believe God made mankind in a perfect state, but mankind voluntarily sinned against God. As a result , we are now radically corrupt, deserving eternity in Hell. However, God loves us so much that He made a way for us to be rescued!

Jesus

We believe Jesus Christ has always been in existence. He is fully God! More than 2,000 years ago, Jesus voluntarily came to Earth, and was incarnated as a man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. Yes, we do actually believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a virgin when Jesus was born! We believe Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life while on Earth, that He performed many miracles, taught many great things, died on a cross, and then physically came back from the dead. After resurrection, Jesus ascended to heaven. There will be a day when Jesus will return to the Earth, and bring an end to the current

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is also fully God! The Holy Spirit is here on Earth, everywhere all at once, totally omnipresent. The Holy Spirit supernaturally makes it possible for human beings to believe in God. The Holy Spirit comes to “live inside” of every genuine Christian, giving us the ability to live in accordance with the Bible.

Salvation

We believe that we all have sinned, separating us from God and therefore in need of a savior. We believe that: Any person who wholeheartedly believes in Jesus and chooses to place their full confidence in Him, will be fully forgiven of all of their sins and all wrongdoings. The forgiven person is someone we’d consider to be a genuine Christian. All genuine Christians will spend eternity in Heaven with God.

Baptism

We believe in water baptism. Soon after an individual has trusted in Christ, he/she is obligated to be publicly baptized, as a symbol of their new life in Christ.

The Supernatural

We believe God has continued to work supernaturally in modern times just as He did in the first century. We believe in modern-day miracles and modern-day divine healing. We believe that all of the spiritual gifts, as recorded in 1 Corinthians 12 and 14, are still for the church today. While we believe God still supernaturally heals the sick, we do not reject the use of modern-day medicine. We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit, as evidenced in the book of Acts, is given to every genuine Christian that may ask, enabling those genuine Christians to live a life branded by supernatural power.
