Unclogging the pipes

Colossians 3:12-13 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

 ◦ Have you been in a situation where someone completely hurt you?

 ◦ Are you Holding on to an offense/unforgiveness?

 ◦ Forgiveness is not for the individual that sinned against you; it’s actually for you!

 ◦ Understand that just cause you say I forgive you, that doesn’t mean you’re ok with what they did.

 ◦ They don’t have the ability to see that’s something is bothering you. And if you do say something they’ll say you shouldn’t feel that way or you’re being too sensitive.  

 ◦ If you say I forgive you, they’ll say something like…for what??? Just cause it’s not on their radar.

 ✓ Unforgiveness clogs the communication with God to allow for normal spiritual flow.

 ◦ God is about the intimate relationship…

 ✓ Unforgiveness causes bitterness and has a negative impact on our life with Christ.

 ◦ It’s God's desire for you to forgive.

 ◦ Your growth will never happen if you don’t!

 ✓ Mark 11:25-26 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

 ✓ Luke 23:34 34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment and cast lots.

 ◦ We as Americans aren’t humble, meek nor are we long-suffering 

 ✓ Matthew 18:21-22 21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

 ◦ You have to forgive or you won’t have that intimate relationship with Christ.

 ✓ God wants your heart and Unforgiveness is a heart issue.

 ◦ Matthew 18:35 35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

 ◦ God wants that relationship with you!

 ◦ Think about how you tried to whooo the person that one you love and what you did to win their heart?

 ◦ Forgive one another and YOURSELF!

 ◦ When you forgive you pardon from destruction.
